DEFINITION OF CANCER-RELATED ANEMIA (CRA)

The NCCN Guidelines® state that a Hb of ≤ 11 g/dL or ≥ 2 g/dL below baseline should prompt evaluation of anemia1

NCI anemia scale Tests for anemia

• Folate and vitamin B12 levels1

• Stool guaiac1

• Bone marrow biopsy5

Hb = hemoglobin

Hct = hematocrit

MCV = mean corpuscular volume

MCHC = mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration

RBC = red blood cell

Retic = reticulocyte count

TIBC = total iron-binding capacity

TSAT = transferrin saturation
