chemotherapy-induced anemia (CIA)

Anemia is common in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy1,2

• Approximately 40% in colorectal and head and neck cancer2

• Over 50% in ovarian, breast, and non-small cell lung cancer in one study2

Data from January 1, 2000 through December 31, 2007 from a retrospective, observational, cohort study of 47,159 adult patients with cancer were obtained through electronic medical records at community and hospital-affiliated clinical oncology practices throughout the United States. The mean baseline Hb prior to initiating chemotherapy was 12.4 g/dL across all tumor types.
